To maintain his title of most hated governor in the US, Rick Scott Wednesday touted his bill capping the amount water management districts can collect in property taxes. He promised lower property taxes in Florida when he campaigned and he delivered. Scott claims that this $210 million dollar tax cut will allow families and businesses to use more of their hard-earned money in the way they see best, rather than having to send it to a government agency.
Yay for Floridians! Homeowners will be saving approximately $25.00 a year on their property insurance by this tax cut. That equates to a little less than 50 cents a week savings? Where will you be spending your savings? Sorry… that cup of coffee at cost $1.00!
To help make Governor Scott's approval rating even worse, he flew to Palm Beach to sign the budget cut. Talk about rubbing salt on a wound!
“I think Governor Rick Scott displayed a serious lack of leadership and behaved insensitively today by showing up with little notice at the headquarters of the South Florida Water Management District to promote legislation signed a month ago that destroys jobs and puts families out of work. Can you imagine the governor showing up to celebrate your unemployment?
- Representative Jeff Clemens (D-Lake Worth)
